Interaction designer and user researcher
I have been an interaction designer and user researcher for 13 years. In that time I've designed pretty much everything: from websites to Linux build systems. In 2011 I joined the open source department at Intel, where I stayed for 5 years contributing to different free software projects. During that period we started Open Source Design, a volunteering group that advocates the importance of human-centred design to the free software community, and the importance of free software to mainstream designers. I must confess the former is proving much easier than than the latter. I am currently in the last stages of my PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, which should be done by the end of March 2021.
