Stephen Jacobs has been teaching Game Design at RIT for over 20 years and began to teach courses in FOSS and Free Culture when he wanted his students to make educational games for the OLPC XO. Since then he led the creation of the first academic minor in FOSS and Free Culture, created a program called LibreCorps connecting his students to Humanitarian FOSS projects and recently became the Director of one of the first academic OSPOs, Open@RIT. He was a member of the first Ford Foundation Critical Digital Infrastructure research fellows program. His work in FOSS education has been supported by Red Hat, Inc, AT&T and others. His current work with Open@RIT and LibreCorps is supported, in part, by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
